Motherhood
“I JUST WANT TO FEEL
LIKE MYSELF AGAIN”
The journey of Motherhood is both beautiful and overwhelmingly disorienting. Whether you're preparing, postpartum, or years into parenting, our therapy approach is here to support you in all the moments of mama becoming.
You’re not alone —
and we need to
do better
1 IN 5
women in Canada experience a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder during pregnancy or after giving birth (CAMH, n.d.)*.
85%

Why Motherhood
Requires Help
Between the joyous photoshoots, cute wee clothes, dreaming of baby names, and maternity preparations, why is it that no one tells us just how hard motherhood is?
Motherhood isn’t just about raising a kid—it’s a time of profound transformation in our identities, priorities, relationships, and beyond. Every stage of motherhood brings new emotional demands. Big questions emerge and often, in our disorientation, our old ways of coping may no longer serve us.
The physiological, hormonal, emotional, and socio-cultural changes that take place in us forever alter our being. We hope therapy can be the workshop where you reconnect with yourself, rewrite internal stories, and create space to thrive as a mother, not just survive.
Does this sound familiar?
It’s like I’m carrying the mental load of our whole family
I love my baby so much and being a mom, but I don’t want it to be all that I am
I feel like I’m failing at everything—work, parenting, my relationship
I’m so scared to go back to work, what if I can’t still be a present mom
I can’t tell if this is normal tired or something deeper
I don’t recognize myself anymore, it’s like I’ve disappeared into motherhood
Now that I’m a mom I feel confused about my career and priorities
I thought I’d feel more confident by now
IF THIS RESONATES, LET’S CONNECT

HOW WE CAN HELP
Our approach to supporting clients in motherhood is compassionate, non-judgmental, and deeply validating. At Workshop, we believe therapy is a space to untangle the complexity of motherhood and come home to yourself. Here’s how we support you:
We acknowledge the both/and: You can love your children and grieve the parts of yourself that feel lost. You can be grateful for all that is and feel overwhelmed.
We work with identity: Matrescence is a real, developmental process. We explore the shifting roles, relationships, and self-concept that come with becoming (and being) a mother.
We address the mental load: We name it, validate it, and support you to setting boundaries and adequately resourcing yourself amongst all your responsibilities.
We support working & stay-at-home mothers: Whether you’re navigating a mat leave, returning to paid work, juggling career and parenting, or the full-time caregiver for your kids, we are passionate about helping you find sustainable rhythms and owning your value in every role you have.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Absolutely. You don’t need a diagnosis to seek support and therapy isn’t just for when we find ourselves in crisis mode.
Many mothers feel off, anxious, disoriented, or irritable in ways that don’t fit a neat category. If you’re struggling to feel like yourself again, therapy can help.
-
Absolutely. Whether you’re focused on still establishing your career, you’re just starting your journey in trying to conceive (TTC), or you are experiencing fertility challenges, we specialize in therapy for women in the pre-conception stages of motherhood. Our sense of identity, our self-worth, and our search for purpose and meaning isn’t just impacted once a baby is born. This is an innate part of being a female, especially in today’s modern society, and we are especially honoured to walk alongside you during this stage. In addition to supporting women in Motherhood, we also specialize in Fertility and Family Planning.
-
Definitely not, and we’re glad you asked. Navigating our shifting roles, responsibilities, and identities as mothers is a universal challenge, whether you return to paid work or are a full time stay-at-home-mom. Not to mention, that motherhood is a career and a more-than-full-time job.
If you’re currently taking a pause from your career, or considering working full time as a mother, we are passionate about supporting you in this season.
-
Yes. Motherhood is a lifelong transition. Whether you’re in the toddler years, raising teens, or processing your identity years after giving birth, this work is still relevant and healing.
-
Definitely. One of our core areas is helping women integrate motherhood and work. That includes navigating return-to-work, balancing career goals with parenting, and healing from guilt or burnout.
-
Yes! Many of our clients choose online sessions because they’re convenient, flexible, and accessible during naptime, lunch breaks, or quiet moments between the chaos. We also are a safe and supportive environment for therapy calls with a feeding babe or little one in the background.
